The Utilities Department is one of the largest departments in the City of Oklahoma City with 828 employees, ten divisions, and an annual budget of $1.3 billion. The department provides water, wastewater, and solid waste management services and delivers an average of 100 million gallons of water every day through retail and wholesale service connections. It also has a 50-year contract with the federal government to operate and maintain water and wastewater facilities at Tinker Air Force Base.
The city is looking for a new Line Maintenance Superintendent to lead the largest division in the Utilities Department with 233 employees, who service 4,300 miles of water pipe and 3,300 miles of sewer pipe, with 17,000 work orders annually. The division also has a $51 million budget. The ideal candidate for this role with be an engaging, forward-thinking, and effective leader with experience in developing and managing large annual budgets, improving complex operations, knowledge of and experience in contract management (bidding, administration, and project management), as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office and workforce management software (KorTerra, CityWorks, or similar system).
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related, with a minimum of seven (7) years' progressively responsible experience in supervising water and wastewater repair and maintenance activities or related utility operations, to include experience in managing a large, unionized workforce.
