We are seeking an experienced human resource professional to focus on building and leading a new human resource organization while serving as a trusted and competent partner with district leadership and staff with an emphasis on treating our staff and responders like family.

The Human Resources Director (HRD) is a new position reporting to the Fire Chief and serving as a member of the leadership team. In this role, the HRD will have the opportunity to build a new human resources organization and set a strategic vision for it while working in and across a range of functions. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader, a creative problem solver, a flexible and collaborative business partner, and possess a balanced approach that is people-focused and kind but firm.

A master’s degree in business, human resources, psychology, public administration, or a related field is required as is at least ten (10) years of comprehensive human resources management experience that includes supervision of human resources professionals. Specific experience leading a broad range of human resources functions, including talent management, employee benefits, performance management, compensation, and employee relations, is preferred. Experience in labor relations and/or collective bargaining is required along with HR certification (SPHR, IPMA-CP).
