Chief Deputy Probation Officer
Salary: $170,726 to $323,793

The Orange County Probation Department is undergoing significant innovation, program development, and facility expansion as part of the County's OC Cares Initiative. Positioned as a re-entry leader, OC Probation is introducing new services for high-need clients, aiming to improve outcomes for both juvenile and adult populations through countywide coordination. Reporting to the Chief Probation Officer, this adaptable role oversees one of the department's bureaus - Juvenile Operations, Adult Operations, or Administrative Services. Successful candidates will have demonstrated proven leadership with effective results including the implementation and application of evidence-based and trauma-responsive practices. Key duties include providing administrative support, managing bureau functions, setting goals and policies, and evaluating and developing staff in line with the department's mission and strategic priorities.

Minimum Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree in behavioral science or related subject and four years of experience in a supervisory class as a peace officer, at the level of Assistant Probation Division Director, in either of the following areas: 1) custody and/or rehabilitation of juveniles in a correctional facility, or 2) probation investigations and/or supervision of probationers, or a combination of education and/or equivalent and relevant probation-related experience required to develop the knowledge and abilities listed above as minimum qualifications. Applicants must meet all requirements for peace officer and probation officer/correctional officer status that are prescribed by the California Government and Penal Codes and regulations of the California Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission and California Board of Corrections for the class of Deputy Probation Correctional Officer and/or Deputy Probation Officer II.
