The City of Austin is seeking a transformational, progressive, and empowering Division Manager for the Aquatics Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. The desired candidate is an experienced professional who will bring to the table a track record of innovative, high-level leadership, strategic planning and excellent employee and community engagement all while being a servant leader of this diverse and high-functioning Department.

The Division Manager (Aquatics) needs to be a collaborative leader who is skilled at building relationships and teams as this person will work across the City of Austin organization and with external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of safety best practices, mandates, and regulations related to public aquatics programs to include an understanding of Texas health codes. Prior experience managing similar programs in a municipal setting is preferred. The person working in this role should be comfortable speaking publicly and should also understand the best practices associated with diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) provides, protects, and preserves a park system that promotes quality recreational, cultural, and outdoor experiences for the Austin community. The City of Austin Aquatic Division operates a $12.5M annual budget, 45 public aquatic facilities, which includes 7 Regional pools, 3 Community pools, 22 Neighborhood pools, 1 Wading pool, Barton Springs Pool and 11 splash pads. In addition to coordinating open water events and swim team competitions, they also offer instructional programs such as masters swim, lifeguard and water safety training and youth and adult swim lessons.
