The County Engineer is a key contributor to this transformational leadership vision, serving on the Collaborative Leadership Team. Also, unique to this opportunity is a County-wide local sales tax that is solely dedicated to Public Works road maintenance and capital projects - over $30 million invested in capital projects since the passage of Proposition 403, the County’s Road Maintenance Sales Tax.

The Coconino County Engineer understands and embraces the breadth, complexity and satisfaction of Public Works projects and the role of servant-leader. Communication skills are paramount, as the County Engineer interfaces with diverse teams and works closely with elected officials, partnering organizations and community groups. While providing oversight for all engineering-related activities, the County Engineer also supervises engineering design, transportation & traffic planning, survey and right-of-way team members and demonstrates a commitment to inclusive leadership, diversity, empowerment and team member development.

Minimum Qualifications for this position are a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and five years of progressively responsible engineering experience in a related field including two years in a supervisory capacity; or any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Candidate must be a registered P.E. within the state of Arizona, or currently hold a P.E. in another state and then secure the registration in Arizona within three months.
